Layout Coding problem

I'm trying to code a layout using tables.I don'y really understand it at
all.WHenever I put a table on the area that i want to spread when more is typed
there,i get nothing but a blank white slapce.Can someone please help me to code
my layout using tables? It's really confusing me.

I didn't code it yet.That is the problem.I just finished making the layout in
photoshop and getting it into HTML form.But when I try to use tables in
Dreamweaver I get a blank space instead of the results that I want. I really
only need help on the process of coding the layout.I can do the rest.I just
dont understand how to code layouts using tables.
