LDAP Directory issues/Address Book - Mac Applications & Software

I'm trying to hook my Mac Address Book up to a local LDAP server. If I disable all authentication on the server, everything works right. As soon as I enable password authentication, the Mac can not look up addresses. I did not see any place in Mail to add a userid/password pair for LDAP. My Windoze and Linux boxes work just fine with password authentication. In both cases, they have a place to enter the userid/password pair for the LDAP server. Any ideas? What (perhaps obvious thing) am I missing? -Stephen...

I think you'll need to use the "Directory Access" application, in the
Utilities folder, to set the password on Mac OS X.

That does work for authenticating via LDAP, but not for the
Address Book. I talked to the folks at Apple Care today and
they agreed with me that there was no way to do it. I filed
    a enhancement request immediately following.
