    Default Legacy saving

I teach at an impoverished college and we still have Illustrator 10, and thet's also the version I have at home. But some of the students have CS at home and we're finding that however they save it, they can't open the files at college.

I don't have a copy of CS myself to experiment with, so does anyone have any advice on how to back-save?

    Hi,
If you use CS, you can actually save the file as Illustrator legacy, and pick which version (8, 9, or 10) you want to save it.

    Hope this will help.

To expound on Timothy's laconic answer, you cannot "save as" to get older versions, but must File-->Export. Then you have the choice of versions 10, 9, 8, & 3.

I just got CS and need to save to Lagacy version 7 for other users and some old graphics utilities. Is there any way to get a file that allows CS to save to ver. 7? (I know about Export and that only 10,9,8,& 3 are currently available--3! must be medieval!!)

    Thanks, Paul
