    Default Length of curve?

I have a closed curve of irregular shape, and I would like to divide it into
segments of equal length. Does Freehand have any features to deal with the
length of a curve, or can anyone think of a technique to assist with this?

    Thanks

Open the Xtras Operations Toolbox. Use the "Add Points" command. This
will continually and equally subdivide your path on either side of
existing points. So the bad news is that if your existing points are
not equally spaced then your added points will not be either.

You could use a blend on a path to make tick marks to act as cutting guides.

    1. Line tool. Shift-drag to draw a short vertical line.
    2. Clone line and move to right.
    3. Select both lines and Modify > Blend. In object inspector set blend steps
to number of desired segments minus one.
    4. Select your already-drawn curved path. Clone.
    5. Knife tool set to straight, close paths unchecked, width 0. Cut the
curved path at the point where you want the segments to start.
    6. Select both curved path and blend. Join Blend to path. This gives you
    evenly spaced tick marks.
    7. Ungroup blend twice and send tick marks to guides layer. Lock guides
    layer.
    8. Snap to guides on. With knife tool, cut original curved path, snapping to
    the tick mark guides.

    Thanks, Martin. :-)

I hope someone can make use of it ... mapping a relay race route, maybe?
