Just how do you define focal length?

The strict definition is: The distance from the rear nodal point to the
film plane, when focused at infinity.

So, a 100mm focal length lens mounted on anything is still 100mm focal
    length.

Now, since the CCD sensor has a smaller area than a 35mm film frame, the
image coveage of the lens will not all be used and the image will be
cropped, by the approximate factor you suggest.

You would still have a 100mm lens. However, the field of view this
gives is something else - it would be a narrower angle, and appear to be
    a mild telephoto.
