Line breaks, word and letter spacing change in the pdf
Hi Everyone,
I have a 1,000 page (black and white, mostly text and line drawings) publication originally formatted in WordPerfect, and have recently converted some of the files into pdfs using Acrobat 6, Adobe PDF converter in the print menu. The pdfs need to be sent out for electroninc printing. Everything looks good on screen, but when I print the pdfs, the line breaks, word and letter spacing change. Sometimes I can live with the results, but other times I get really bad breaks and widows. I can't figure out why this is happening. Does anyone know why, and how I can fix it?
As I make the pdfs I uncheck in Properties, Adobe PDF settings "do not send fonts to Adobe pdf". I looked in the default settings and the fonts that are used in the publication are there in the "embed all fonts" listing. Is there some other setting I am missing?
I am using Windows 2000 and Acrobat 6 and a HP Laserjet 4100 DTN.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Line breaks, word and letter spacing change in the pdf
Before you print to PDF, select the printer in WP and scan the document for changes. Almost all word processors (WORD, WP, etc) reflow text based on the printer. They are trying to set the output to best print on the printer and not to be a 1-to-1 look. Once you have viewed the reflow and fixed any issues, then print to the PDF. You may simply want to save a copy of the document to a different name after it is formated for PDF.
