Lines and Shapes
Question. When you create a shape in illustrator using lines, ie: i created a desk that has some perspective to it with individual lines. I now want to add a mesh to certain areas of the desk. However since no part of the desk was created as a shape, but with lines I am not able to put a fill (let alone a mesh) where I need to. I have tried grouping lines that create the shape that I want with no luck.
Help is appreciated!

Re: Lines and Shapes
You would need to join the lines and make a closed path.

Re: Lines and Shapes
....or put a copy of the art over a filled rectangle of larger size, then select both things and apply the Divide filter from the Pathfinder palette (Alt-click the button to apply it). If the lines of the original art intersect, chances are you'll get shapes that you'll be able to fill.

Re: Lines and Shapes
....or, if your lines don't quite all meet on the various corners, copy, give them a small stroke, round endcaps, select all, outline strokes, unite, then delete outermost path using group select tool (white with + sign), and have only fills left. now paste originals in front, and you have strokes and fills.
