Link and Image Properties from Word
We have our site set up with Dreamweaver templates to allow Contribute to be
used to update the content and menus. We have found that two propeties from
Word do not seem to be making it from Word to the created webpage.
If we go into Word and assign a "Screen Tip" to an image, that does not
transfer into Contribute as the Mouse Rollover text. (i.e. Description (ALT
text))
We also have several links that we want to specifically require them to open a
new window. We have set the Target Frame in Word to New Window. However, this
also does not seem to transfer to Contribute.
Do I need to change some option on either Word or Contribute? So far, I have
not even been able to find a search term that would get me information on
either of these problems.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Re: Link and Image Properties from Word
Hi,
You may want to try out copy and paste. Hope that works. Otherwise you may
have to wait for the next release very soon that integrates with MS Office
(Word, Excel, Outlook reader) as plugins that allow you to do this very easily.
These features and a lot more exciting features are in Contribute 4 which will
get released soon.
Target Frame preserving seems to be a problem still. you may want to send a
wish to wish-contribute@macromedia.com
Thanks

Re: Link and Image Properties from Word
Copy and paste is what we do. We bring up the webpage in Contribute and our
"source document" in Word. We "Select All" of the content section of the
webpage and delete it. Then we go to Word and "Select All" and "Copy" the
source document in Word. Then we switch back to Contribute and "Paste" the
data into the content section of the webpage. Then Publish the page in
Contribute and we are done. These properties don't seem to come over in the
"Copy and Paste" functions.
Sounds like this is a known bug in Contribute that might get fixed in
Contribute 4. Correct?
Thanks for you help.

Re: Link and Image Properties from Word
I wonder if Word actually makes use of the "ALT" attribute of an HTML
<img> tag, of whether it's using the "TITLE" attribute instead.
"TITLE" is very similar to ALT, but is/was I.E. only, and shows much
faster than ALT meaning it's better suited to tool-tips than the ALT
attribute. ANd, as it was I.E. only, i.e. (excuse the pun) a Microsoft
product, like Word, it wouldn't surprise me they had done this.
Not sure how much help this might be, but at least it might explain it,
even if it can't/doesn't solve it.

Re: Link and Image Properties from Word
Hi,
The copy paste works fine from MS Word 2003 to Contribute 3.11. This is
what i am doing:
1. Create connection in contribute
2. Open MS Word 2003, Insert an image, Save the document as test.doc
3. Insert an image and double click on the image. Choose the tab "Web"
4. There is a big text box to add "Alternate text", i have added "hi arun"
5. save the document
6. copy the document content with image in the selection
7. Create a new blank web page in contribute and paste the selection
8. Double click on the image pasted inside contribute
9. Verify that the alternate text message "hi arun" is preserved.
Hope this helps. What version of MS Office are you using? I am doing the above
on windows. Are you trying this out on mac or windows?
