Link to *.sim file - Macromedia Dreamweaver

    Default Link to *.sim file

I have created an intranet site using Dreamweaver MX.

I am having a problem with a link to launch an external file in an external program.

I have used a standard hyperlink to the server where the file is held, which is not on the webserver.

When you Click the link the file tries to open, but does not launch the external program.

We used SAP Tutor to create the file, which when created, saves the file as a *.sim, but if I use a hyperlink to the file, it tries to open it in the web browser and not the SAP Tutor Player.

Can someone suggest how to make sure it launches the SAP Tutor executable program, rather than trying to open the file in the web browser?

It is linking to the correct file, as it pulls in the SAP Tutor Icon in the URL address. Any help will be gratefully received.

I think you'll need to configure people's browsers/OSs to open that
particular file extension in the proper application. This isn't really a web
issue, but rather a computer setup issue.
