Linking a thumbnail to larger picture
I am trying to create a link from a thumbnail to a larger photo, so when the
thumbnail is double clicked the larger image will open. It can be just a plain
photo with no web design. I have uploaded the larger picture to the draft
site. How do I make the thumbnail a link to that image? I also would like to
have the description of the thumbnail appear when the mouse is drug over it.
Is this too difficult for a beginner Contribute person? I just thought it
would be alot easier to update my web site. Whew!! Any help would be greatly
appreciated! Joanna

Re: Linking a thumbnail to larger picture
Right-click on the thumbnail, then select Insert Link. Since you've already
uploaded the larger image, click 'Browse to Web Page' at the top of the window
that pops up. Then click the Choose... button and navigate through your
folders until you see the larger image file. Double-click the larger image to
select it. Ok, now you're back on the Insert Link popup window. If you want
the larger image to pop up in a new window when a visitor clicks it, you have
one more step to do here. Click the Advanced button at the bottom to open the
advanced settings. You'll see Target frame is set to Default. Change that to
New Window if you want each image to pop up in its own window (e.g. a visitor
who clicked on 4 thumbnails would get 4 new windows). Or change it to
something you type in, e.g. 'mywin', if you want each larger window to re-use
the same pop up window (clicking on 4 different images would bring each up in
just one new window). Ok, you're done here, so click OK.
Now for your second question, how to have mouseover descriptions. This is
done using the "alternative text" field. It is actually intended to allow
visually impaired users to use the web, by describing the image they would see
if they were sighted. There are special web browsers that read aloud the text
on the screen. It is always good practice to include alternative text on any
image (except those just for decoration like divider lines). So, to add
alternative text to an image, right-click on the image and select Image
Properties. In the box for "Description (ALT text)", type the description you
want to appear. Click Ok and you're done.

Re: Linking a thumbnail to larger picture
Christina: Thank you so much for your help. I have been working on it and
think I have gotten it to work. I don't especially like the "new window" look,
but it is helpful to have the enlarged picture. You have been most helpful!
