Linking to documents on a file share
I'm curious as to why Contribute will only copy files from a network share to
the web server and does not provide an option of creating a file: link which
will leave the file in place?
I'm working specifically with an intranet environment where we use file
listings on pages to organize large drawing files and operational procedures.
The web page is a nice format for organizing the documents and creating links
to the actual documents for general users to review. Whenever the original
version of the drawing or procedure is updated on the network share, our users
don't want to copy the file up to the web server. As the admin, I don't want
them copying the large amounts of data up to the web server either.
Is there a straight-forward way in Contribute 4 of creating links to documents
on network shares? I'm pretty sure Contribute 3 doesn't provide the option.
Thanks.
