Default Linking to pages that are based on a master flows text to master?

Why? Has anyone else had problems with this? I saw some discussion of it in a previous thread, but saw no solutions. Any ideas?

I'm guessing that you are using InDesign CS2. If not, then ignore the following.

This was/is a bug that could happened if there were more than 80 pages (or was it 84?) in the document. I think it was fixed in one of the recent updates (4.0.3 or 4.0.4). What version are you running?

Hmm. Perhaps I'm wrong that this was fixed, then. Did it only start to happen after 80 pages?

I just checked the doc - when I link to a master when there's 60 pages it doesn't happen....when I go over 80 it DOES, so you to have identified the issue. I guess I will get the 4.04 update and see if that works....

    See this technote:

330194 Text flows onto master page instead of layout page when
you thread text in upper page ranges (InDesign CS2)

A little note on the above.

The fix is supposed to work on the problem that happens only when you have a master text frame on a master page.

But one of my students (whom I trust) swears to me that he has had the problem even if there is no master text frame.

So I hope that the fix works even if you don't have a master text frame.
