LInux won't recognize USB ports after MoBo replacement - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

Hi, I had a working Mandrake 9.1 PC with an intergrated MoBo. My MoBo burned out and was replaced (during warranty) with a newer, better board. Mandrakes works fine except that it won't recognize the USB ports, I have tried the Control center, hardware but with no result. The problem may be related to the fact that the new board has 4 X USB 2.0 while the former board had 2 X USB 1.1. How can I add USB funtionality without fresh install? PC details: CPU: Athlon XP 1800. MB: Elite L7VMM2 (ver 1.1) with: KM266, VT8375 & VT8235 chips ...

Default LInux won't recognize USB ports after MoBo replacement

    Hi,
I had a working Mandrake 9.1 PC with an intergrated MoBo.
My MoBo burned out and was replaced (during warranty) with a newer, better
    board.
Mandrakes works fine except that it won't recognize the USB ports, I have
tried the Control center, hardware but with no result. The problem may be
related to the fact that the new board has 4 X USB 2.0 while the former
    board had 2 X USB 1.1.

How can I add USB funtionality without fresh install?

    PC details:
    CPU: Athlon XP 1800.
    MB: Elite L7VMM2 (ver 1.1) with: KM266, VT8375 & VT8235 chips & 4 onboard USB (ver 2.0) ports.

My modules.conf contain teh folowing lines:

    alias usb-controller usb-ohci
    alias usb-controller1 ehci-hcd
    alias usb-controller2 usb-uhci

The lines were added automatically when I enabled
the usb controller on the mother board in the BIOS,
(probably 1.1) and also added a usb-pci-card with
2.0 support. Perhaps it was kudzu who did it.
    (I run RH9)
