Loading external files into HTML or IFrame - Macromedia Flash Actionscript

I am trying to build a preloader / movie interface that will load movies according to user bandwidth upon release of a button. Lets say I push a broadband button. Default Loading external files into HTML or IFrame

I am trying to build a preloader / movie interface that will load movies
according to user bandwidth upon release of a button.

Lets say I push a broadband button. I would like it to jump to a screen (in
the .swf) indicating the loading status. The .mov would NOT load into the .swf
but load into an iFrame inside the main HTML.

I know I can use the flash to link to the HTML where the .mov is stored, but
is the preloader for this possible? Is it going to require JavaScript or
    another programming language.

I would like to avoid using an .mov embedded into a .swf just because I do not
want to further compress the video.

    Thanks

Default Re: Loading external files into HTML or IFrame

i'm not sure (and someone else please correct me if i'm wrong here), but FLASH
cannot report a value for 'getBytesLoaded' for an MOV file unless it's being
loaded into a flash movie. and javascript has no similar byte-counting
event/property/method as far as i know.

if your quicktime object (or whatever object you are embedding in the iframe
to play the MOV) could report the streaming status to javascript, your flash
movie might be able to retrieve variables from javascript and display
accordingly, but i don't think you're going to be able to do what you want.

if i'm wrong someone please correct me.
