local network access

    Default local network access

    i have windows xp pro installed with iis.

    i want local computers on the network to be able to access my iis site, anyone
    know how to do this?
    i don't have a dynamic ip and i am not trying to actually host my application
    on the web but just host it for the local network pc's.

    Hi, It shouldn't matter that you don't have a dynamic IP Address. They should
    be able to use your computername. See if they can ping it and then they can
    just connect by [url]http://YOURCOMPUTERNAME/Site[/url] Hope that helps

    Yeah! but firt of all, you should install yourself a webserver at the server
    computer to allow your site to be viewable by the others, and than, like
    greeckchild wrote, check your network connection to see it the other
    computers are able to acess your server...

    since you are using win xp pro, it already came with a IIS WebServer, so it
    should be a great tip to check at windows help how to configure your
    WebServer.

    thanks guys, i checked it out and couldn't get a ping so i disabled my windows firewall ( i have pandas firewall still active and just created an exception ) and i t worked
