Re: Locked files in Photoshop
Vharles - I have the same problem. Just talked to the Mac tech rep and couldn't figure it out after an hour on the phone. This file lock thing must be a PhotoShop CS bug for Panther. Did you ever get it fixed? Kind regards-

Re: Locked files in Photoshop
Couple things come to mind: If those images are stored on a CD, then they CAN’T be changed until you copy them to your drive.
The second is a permissions problem. Try logging in under a new user name and see if that helps. If so, run Disk Utility and repair permissions on your drive.

Re: Locked files in Photoshop
Sure sounds like the files are on a CD. Or they could have been on a removable medium (CD, ZIP, etc.) at one time, opened from there and Saved As instead of copied. Always copy a closed file from removable media and from a server, before opening it.
If the Mac tech didn't suggest any of the above possibilities, including the ones in Macmanx's post, he deserves to be hit upside the head.
