Locked Paragraphs - Macromedia Freehand

I have been using Freehand for about 20 years. I have found Freehand MX to be the least user friendly. It seems nuts to change the application to fit more conformingly to their other applications such as Flash, etc. Many people, such as myself, only use Freehand for a Macromedia product and use other software pkgs for other needs. I have been using Freehand for about 20 years.

I have found Freehand MX to be the least user friendly. It seems nuts to
change the application to fit more conformingly to their other applications
such as Flash, etc. Many people, such as myself, only use Freehand for a
Macromedia product and use other software pkgs for other needs.

Among the many problems of determining where the "old" tools are at, etc., the
one thing I have yet to find is that when you type a sentence, and it snaps to
a second line, in FH 9.0 you could simple click a box that would allow you to
pull the second line into a single line. I can not find that button in this
    version.

in the object menu, click on the text block, within that section I think you
will see the 2 buttons you were looking for.
Or you can double click on within your text box at the sides were you see the
dot. It will turn into a open dot, this will extend your type box to the edge
of your type. You should probably know this one from Freehand 9.

I do agree it takes some getting used to but there are some advantages to the
newer version once you get going.

Preferences > Text > New text containers auto-expand

It controls how a single click with the text tool creates the text
container. With this pref checked, remember to drag a text box of desired
size when pasting in a paragraph of text, or you'll get a very, very wide
    text box.
