    Default Long time to load...

My Photoshop 7.0 takes a very long time doing nothing on the grey start-up screen before the loading logo screen shows up, and before anything else happens. I don't understand why.

    Wolfy,

While I'm not aware of any Norton Utilities components that would affect Photoshop 7 startup, Norton Protection did cause problems with PS6. So, learning from that I'd suggest you inspect to see what other processes you have active and, if possible, shut them down to see if that improves things any.

I seem to have fixed many problems in Photoshop 7 by disabling the NORTON PROTECTED RECYCLE BIN. PS7 used to close unexpectedly, the plugins were super slow (45 seconds to add a drop shadow, when using Win XP Home with a 2200+ processor, and 1536 MB Ram). Right click your desktop Norton Protected Recycle Bin icon, Choose Properties, Click the Norton Protection tab, remove the check mark from Enable Protection. Restart Photoshop, and see if that helps.
    Good luck
