The only viewer out there is the one that comes with FH and it just
gives one very small lo-res thumbnail of one page (if multi-page), just
so you get an idea of what file it is. It's nothing like a Word/Excel
Viewer where you have full access accept for editing.

Though I have found that -- if you turn on the preview options in the
Freehand preferences for saving files -- that you can preview Freehand
files in the Mac OS X finder if you navigate around in the columns view.
Hilite a Freehand file and the preview image shows up in the preview column.

But, again, it's not very high resolution. If you have Freehand EPS
files you can open those up in some programs to preview.

Is this for proofing multi-page doents or for cataloging purposes? For
proofing, you'd be better off generating PDF files and using Acrobat as your
    viewer.

Are you on a Mac or Win machine?

For cataloging, I check FHMX Preferences>Export>Portfolio preview (Mac
only), which writes a 72 ppi raster image of the first page of the FH file.
Then I use iView MediaPro to create catalogs.

Same with Windows XP. You can see the preview image if you view the folder in thumbnail view, but it's only a thumbnail, not a usable doent.
