Re: looped cloud animation
That is a very bad example of that effect.. why?
1) 577KBytes! Way too big for website use.
2) not seamless.. jumps at end of loop
This one I did for a demo is seamless..
http://members.cox.net/4my2dogs/flash/clouds2.html (38k swf)
Fla file...use if you want to
http://members.cox.net/4my2dogs/flash/clouds2.zip (1 meg)
The more pictures you use the smoother it will look, but then it gets pretty
big.
This is the method (roughly.. because the details are too many to post in a
Flash newsgroup)
1) Make a seamless tile of a cloud picture (vertically seamless)
2) Make 20 duplicates of that picture
3) Offset each picture vertically by 10 pixels
4) Distort each picture by stretching the top wider (perspective transform
in Photoshop)
5) Save each picture as lossless PNG in a series like cloud01.png to
cloud20.png
6) Select one keyframe in Flash timeline
7) Flash Import.. Select cloud01.png only
8) Import as a sequence? Yes
Have fun,

Re: looped cloud animation
i know this post has been sorted, but just have a look at the effect the clouds can create when used properly.

Thanks for that, I have used it . I also got hold of some video which
was already in a loop and converted it to a swf from a .mov with
wildforms video convertor (but the file sizes are too big so i'm going
to have to optomize it somehow), if you want to see what it looks like
with your sky have a look at http://www.digitaljelly.co.uk/sloggirugby/
, it's on a randomization so if you want to try clicking home a few
times it should come up.

Re: looped cloud animation
I will have to try making one of the horizontal cloud motion effects. That
looks great. The cloud effects really work well for your site.

photoshop, is there any chance you can do a few screenshots
demonstrating what you just explained.

Re: looped cloud animation
Sure.. I don't know much about Paintshop Pro, but I wrote some instructions
for doing it with Photoshop. Maybe you can work out the differences.
