Lost access to private folder on reinstall
I recently had to reinstall Windows XP on my machine (ok
ok, I get it... always do a fresh install, never an
upgrade!). I had moved my documents to a separate
partition, and set access to private. Unfortunately, I had
to reinstall because XP was so corrupted I couldn't get it
to boot even using recovery console or any of the several
safe mode options, so I couldn't reset the privacy
settings on the folder.
The fresh install works great. I reinstalled XP using the
same machine name as before and the same account name as
well. Crossed my fingers, sacrificed a fried chicken,
burned incense... but I cannot access the private folder.
Any tips on how I might be able to recover these files?
