Lots of pictures, lots of problems

Default Lots of pictures, lots of problems

I have a project in which pictures need to flash up at precise times in
synch with music. I thought I was going great guns - I'd reduced all my
jpeg's to 20K or less and when I previewed the movie in Flash, it was all
bang on time, but when I exported it to an swf it was obviously having
trouble loading the images in time. I came to Flash from Powerpoint as that
was having the same problem (even though I've got a good system). Is there
any way to control this behaviour or should I give up now? The finished
article would have 250 jpegs in it (total 2.3Mb) and I've spent hours
downloading all the images I need. I'm going to cry now.

Turns out a lot of these problems can be solved by making my sound
"streaming" instead of "start". Natch! Sound has reduced greatly in
    quality though.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.. Synching can be difficult especially when
you are dealing with jpegs and must contend with the fact that different
computers load information at varying rates over the internet. The best way
to combat this is to use audio scripting and convert all sounds to scripted
sound objects to control playback. By doing this you can more easily check
the load time of your images and synch the audio to this. I would also
probably use the loadmovie function to load your jpegs.

Thanks a lot for responding, but it's fixed now. I'm a complete beginner
(or was, now I'm just a beginner). What I hadn't realised was that I needed
to switch the sound mode to "streaming". This reduced the sound quality but
meant that not only did the thing play in synch (it now does with all 250
images!) but that I could hear the sound play as I moved the bar across the
timeline and thus didn't have to second guess the music and add and subtract
frames "in the dark": an absolute no-brainer when you know what you're doing
but nothing in the documentation pointed me to it. I reckon I'll have it
    finished by tomorrow.
