300 has almost become a myth at this point. For the most part you never
    have to go that high.

Yes. I'm probably mything the point.

My stuff goes through an automation system that rejects graphics less than
276 dpi. I have used lower resolution graphics and you wouldn't see the
    difference. It's just habit.

Well, I agree, considering one image I put in had a ppi of 144 compared to the same image at 58 is quite different. But at 144 it looks really good. I'm just not sure why it looked fine in PM and it was C/P into the program, where I am trying to save it in every which way to get better res. out of it.

Are the links up to date in Pagemaker when the converting to InDesign? If the Pagemaker file cant find the hi-res image it may only be able to import the low res thumbnail.

    Just an idea

Another problem would occur if the graphics were embedded in the PageMaker file. Unembed them and link to the high-res files if necessary.

300 dpi has become a habit and perhaps induced blinkered vision

Tell me about it. Frankly, I'm SICK OF IT! Someone "poisoned" someone with the idea and they poisoned everyone else into thinking 300 is ideal.

I kind of skimmed through the messages because of all the fighting back and fourth.

Jeremy, what kind of images are these again? jpg images or?

What about the print driver, is it a PS or PCL printing to a ???

With all the fighting I didn't read or didn't want to read through all that and I don't even know if you are talking about what these look like on screen or the final output. FWIU, you are talking about the output correct?
