Lowercase "L's" look odd.
I notice, as well as clients proofing documents, that often times a PDF file with lowercase L's will sometimes look odd or more specifically too bold when viewed at 100%. I know that when when I view the character at 2000% it looks normal. It only seems to L's and no other characters.
System is MacG5 OSX v10.4.7. using Acrobat 7.0 Professional. Files are distilled out of QuarkXpress 6.5 as PDF's with font's embedded. Any clues?

Re: Lowercase "L's" look odd.
This sounds suspiciously like a previous post where straight characters (like the lower-case "L") were getting converted to stroked paths (lines).
Someone there linked to a post somewhere else on the web that said this was caused by a known bug in the PDF library used in Acrobat 6, InDesign CS and Illustrator CS.
Doesn't seem to quite match your situation, but you might open one of the PDFs up in Illustrator, zoom in and see if this is what is happening.

Re: Lowercase "L's" look odd.
Tom, thanks for tip, not sure what the problems is now. When I attempt to open the PDF in Illus. I get this error message "Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. Unable to display correct error message because out of memory." Same thing happens on two different computers so it does sound like a bug more than a memory problem. Again, everything prints fine and views fine in PDF when magnified. Thanks, again.
