Mac Enterprise Install Acrobat 8.0. Is there a way?
I have a volume license for my 100 or so macs. I'm trying to find a way to either insert the serial number into the package so I can install it on all of my machines without having to type it every time, or find where and how it is storing the serial/registration info so I can copy it through. I have found an SHinit.xml file inside the package that seems to have some tags about running the install silently and suppressing the EULA, but I can't figure out how to include the serial number(perhaps I'm just entered it in the wrong format.) Does anyone else have a solution for mass deployment of the product for macs so neither my users or I have to individually install it on all my machines?
This is a constant problem for us with Adobe Products and their Updates. Tons of info for PC's nothing for Mac.
Mac OS 10.4.8 Mostly PPC some Intel(not important)
40-Dual 1.25ghz G4's
60-G5's of different generations
Scattered MacBook Pro's and Intel MacPro's
All over 2GB RAM

Re: Mac Enterprise Install Acrobat 8.0. Is there a way?
Most people use ARD or FileWave, but Adobe doesn't provide support for either method.

Re: Mac Enterprise Install Acrobat 8.0. Is there a way?
I do use ARD to do most of my installs. But without being able to include the registration somehow, I will still end up having to log in to every machine....not what I want to do if I can help it. Thanks though.

Re: Mac Enterprise Install Acrobat 8.0. Is there a way?
well, if it helps, Personalization data, Name, Company and Serial number you enter at first launch is stored in cache.db
This file is located in /Library/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe PCD/cache/

Re: Mac Enterprise Install Acrobat 8.0. Is there a way?
Its still asks for an Admin password when I use that but its a huge step in the right direction. Thanks a bunch.
I still think there should be some way to distribute this more cleanly. Just like adobe has done with the creative suite installs there should be some way to perform a silent install without have to retype the info for every machine.

Re: Mac Enterprise Install Acrobat 8.0. Is there a way?
It's the Adobe PDF Printer setup that asks for the Admin password. It has to setup a file in the system directories and this requires an Admin password. If you have your Mac network setup with a "wheel-like" account that is essentially like a Windows Domain Admin you should be able to run the complete installation.

Yep, that and the browser plug-in and I think the ICC profiles.
