Default MacOS X, iBook and Floppies

I purchased a refurbished USB floppy drive from Smart Disk at a great price.
It arrived via UPS this afternoon. I noticed something about using it on the
iBook under MacOS X (Jaguar): I cannot find any command/menu item to
reformat/erase a floppy disk. Am I missing something here?

Does the floppy show up if you use Disk Utility which is found here

    Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility

If so you could use the options under the Erase tab
