    Default Macromedia Forums

    Hi there,

What's happened to the forums in outlook express??

All the recent messages have been wiped out just leaving today's, anyone who
had posted a question in the recent past will find it missing.

Come on who ever is to blame lets have our forums back please.

It's not just Outlook Express, its for any news reader. There was some
problem that wiped out the newsgroup archive. It is being looked into,
but don't expect the older posts to come back.

You can still access older threads via the web forums:

There have been several other htreads this morning addressing this. OK, at
least 2. Seems that the server which keeps these posts crashed, and there
was no backup. At least, that's what the other threads from today said.

If you absolutely have to have some info that's in a thread older than
    today, then try Google.

    Watch the backups !!! :)

BTW: Where was the post explaining what happened ... has MM (or someone from
there) actually come out and said what has happened and (more importantly)
what they are going to do about it?

(NOTE: I'm just replying .. didn't really notice the newsgroups .. but I'll
still cross post this reply, so I can get read in the forum where the
information appeared and hopefully someone can reply to me)

Can't YOU find something better to do, Murray, like contacting people at
Macromedia about this issue, than acting as a cross-post nazi?

After all, it's not like the cross-posts are going to execessively burden
the database -- hey, guess what -- it's all gone anyway; there's LOADS of
    room!

Well, frankly, I still haven't been able to redownload any headers. I just
get today's. I'm writing it off as a loss.

I was in the same boat .. until I removed the forum.macromedia.com
altogether from OE, exited, started OE and re-added the forum.macromedia.com
account and selected the newsgroups I wanted. Then when I selected 'Headers
Only' for the sync for each newsgroup and did a snc, I got ALL the old
message headers back (well .. it looks like it anyway).

Try that yourself and you should be fine.

So you're railing against the current cross-posting that is providing ALL
the current users of the newsgroups the instructions on how to get things
working again? That's certainly productive. Instead of the users having to
do this, you'd think it would at LEAST be a TMM if not an official staff
member of Macromedia itself, but NOOOOOOOOO!
