Re: macromedia online university
i had a two week trial. the macromedia school is run by element k, so if
you're familiar with that online forum that gives you a big clue as to how
well they're done.
that being said, i would not spend $400 on it (unless i could write it off).
just imho. if you REALLY need to learn the ENTIRE studio in one weekend i
would consider it, only if i was already an expert in html and images and
needed to learn the tools quickly. they are all flash presentations and you
can follow along as the flash plays. i just think they were very basic and i
didn't find any use for the dw one. the fireworks one was great ONLY because
i needed to learn fireworks vocabulary in a hurry. i had never opened flash
before using the online classes and it did teach me the vocabulary i needed
when i went on the web to find out the details. i do have to say i liked the
flash tutorial the best- i learned the most from that one.
they'd be great for someone's mother who wanted to make simple websites and
get up and running quickly. i'm not too sure how their target audience is
supposed to be. great quality for the level i think it's being marketed to.
and i don't think too many people have ever used them so that's why you're
not going to get much of a response.
again, just my $.02...

Re: macromedia online university
I purchased a one year subscription a little over a year ago. It sounded
wonderful, and because it was affiliated with Macromedia, I figured there
would be plenty of up to date courseware. What was there was fine, but the
courses were very basic -- even the "Advanced" ones were pretty intuitive.
All in all, I feel I wasted MOST of that money! If I had it all to do over
again, I'd purchase PVII stuff - specifically Victoriana -- with Linda
Rathgeberger's great tutorial!
HTH!

Well, it's the truth!!! Your part in that PVII project cannot be
understated! It was a serious asset for ME to learn more about the
design-side of the graphics in a Project Seven ummmm.... project! Thank
you!
