Macrons, there must be an easier way...
Hi,
I've had a look @ the forum search & manual... but am still confused as to a simple (or any) approach to creating macrons. This is something I have never tried to date.
I downloaded a Maori OT font for use in conjunction with my Arial OT in Illustrator. Can anyone give me a clue as how to create macrons w-in Illustrator 10? Is there a simple key-stroke to use in conjunction w. the typed letter? I'm using win 2000.
Cher,

Kiaora Matt, I haven't checked out the new M$ Maori font, but I saw something about it on the telly. Have you checked the character map? The extra characters aren't in there are they? (just a guess) Then you could just use alt codes.
Cher cuz.

Re: Macrons, there must be an easier way...
Tim,
Yeah, use the character map... seems to have what I need but bugger ammending a whole document worth of txt that has to be layed out on descriptive panels within Illustrator. Big flaw in the workflow.
If microns are used in word, is there anyway of importing this txt w. out Illustrator defaulting the txt to a standard?
I thought that OT fonts would probably have addressed this issue with some easy, 2 keystroke method... or maybe the software itself. I work as a G. designer for a museum & encounter this 'hitch', regularly throughout cultural terms/names/phrases esp pacific cultures. The character map is a cumbersome way of having to add macrons. How about Indesign... (which I don't have @ present)
Obviously there is'nt an easier way?

Matt,
OpenType support is very limited in v.10 - but much better in CS.
