Macros in Illustrator?

Is it possible to record a text box in a macro and/or action? I read through the action help file, but had a hard time understanding it. I want to have several different messages that are pre-typed that I can insert into an illustrator document. Is that possible? What is the simplest way to accomplish that?

Should be. There might be some sort of clever way to do it, but a simple way might be to make brush or symbol out of the text you want to place.
