The default resolution is 72. You'll need at least 300 for proper
    publishing.

did not look proper? How do I set the resolution to meet magazine quality?
I don't want to use Photoshop as I already know how to use Fireworks.

    Hi Jeff,
As Bill pointed out, you need 300 dpi resolution for print. FW will do that
but it will painfully slow to work with, if you have a 8x10 inch image at
300 dpi. If you have Freehand, it's a much better tool for that job.
