Mail.app doesn't respect dash-dash-space - Mac Networking

I have always been careful to have the proper dash-dash-space before my email signature, since I assumed all proper mail programs knew what to do with it. When I was telling a colleague about this, I discovered that her proper dash-dash-space was ignored by Mail.app (at least in Panther). Now I can't remember whether this ever worked in Mail.app. Am I the last person to notice this non-standard behavior of Mail.app? Dan -- Daniel E. Does any mail application recognize that? I've seen only news readers
    recognize that paradigm.

Entourage and GNUMail do. Thunderbird does not. That's the extent of my
    investigation.

    You're probably just the latest (I don't use Mail.app and so haven't
    verified it for myself).

Sure. Mailsmith, Poco and The Bat! to name three that aren't also
newsreaders (Netscape, MacOE, Turnpike, Pine, Dialog, MacSOUP,
MultiMail, Gnus, Forte Agent, Hogwasher, etc do both so you might not
    want to count them).

Eudora may (I would think it'd be required as part of the format=flowed
    stuff they do).

The sigdash isn't limited to just news.

Depends on your definition of "recognise" ;) Eudora creates proper sig
separators, but doesn't yet strip them when creating replies, let alone
offer more or lesser useful options like hiding sigs or automagically
publishing received sigs to a "sigs I received today" Web log ;)

    Still nothing, eh? That's surprising.

Anyway, I filed a bug report with Apple that mail.app doesn't recognize
    the sigdash in received messages.
