Default Maintaining image Alt Text from Word to Postscript to PDF

Is there any way to create a postscript file from Word 2007 that includes alt text on the images when distilled as a PDF?

I have Word 2007 files with alt text on the images. If I create a postscript file (using the print to file method on the Adobe postscript printer driver) and then distill it, the alt text is missing on the images in the PDF.

DON'T USE POSTSCRIPT! Postscript has no concept of alt text for images.

This is one of the many reasons why Adobe provides the "Create Adobe PDF" buttons in MSWord - which do NOT use Postscript - so that all the rich information in your document is maintained.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was afraid of.

So here's the other part of this question: I have an automated process working to create PDFs using supported postscript method that I mentioned above. Now, I have a new requirement to include alt text with those PDFs. The only way I have been able to get that to work is with the PDFMaker functionality in Word. I have been able to automate it, but automating PDFMaker is not supported or recommended by Adobe. And I have found PDFMaker to be flaky, even outside the automation.

So, is there no supported way to automate the creation of PDFs from Word with alt text?

Not with Acrobat, but maybe LiveCycle PDF Generator will do it.

As Aandi said - the product that Adobe offers for doing automated/batch creation of PDFs from Word (with or without tagging/structure) would be our LiveCycle PDF Generator product.
