    Default Major Site management problems

Hello to all who read this!

    MX 6.1 --Mac OS 10.2.5

    OK --3 things

Evertime I launch dreamweaver I get an error saying that (1) The local root folder does not exist --blah blah blah. I have read all the posts and there are no funky characters no names over 20 characters. I have double checked and tripple checked all these things. I can deal with this, It is annoying but not deadly.

I cant use the ftp service anymore -- (2) to use this feature you must define a site first-Would you like to do that now. So I do, than I get FTP error 500 (3) than all my local files disappear and when I click the hardrive DW crashes.

There are numerous post on this matter so I know I am not alone -- But how do I fix this -- I am at the end of my MX Rope

Considering the move to GoLive -- I cant deal with it anymore

could you do this quick test?

Open a new dw doc, using File-->New.
    --->Don't Save It<----
Now, insert an image from your Local Site Folder.
look in code view, and copy the <img> tag.

paste that into a reply to the newsgroup, pls.

I'm interested in the full Hard Drive path, something like
    Macintosh%20HD/Users/Your-Username/folder/image.jpg

reason- this is a known mac issue- IF there is a foldername with a special
character in it's name. Or there's a leading blank space in the HD name.

Symptoms are constant nag to recreate site cache, nags about no local site
defined, and the Asset Panel is empty.

    Thanks for the reponse!

I looked at my folders and characters 100 times. It was not until you said that a space in front of the Hard drive name could cause the problem. So I looked for 101st time. And what do you know -- in the image path was the good ole %20 -- changed the hard drive name and -- VIOLA -- works like a champ.

Now I didn't put it there and never in a million years did I think Apple did it -- I was wrong.

    Thanks Again
