making a field un-editable? - Macromedia Dreamweaver

Is there an attribute that can be assigned to a form field so that data can be displayed in it, but a user cannot actually click on it and change/delete the data?...

    You can use either readonly or disabled. To see the differences in how they work, drop this into a page and view it in the browser

    <form>
    <input type="text" name="textfield" value="enabled" />
    <br />
    Text field disabled - user cannot change, information will not be posted with the form<br />
    <input type="text" name="readOnly" value="Disabled" disabled/>
    <br />
    Read only text field - user cannot change, information will be posted with the form<br />
    <input type="text" name="readOnly" value="Read Only" readonly/>
    </form>

    test:

    Yes.

    Change this -

    <input name="fooField" type="text"...>

    to this -

    <input name="fooField" type="text"... readonly>

    (not supported in NN4x)
