Making Acrobat 7.0 Pro the default PDF reader
How do I make Acrobat 7.0 Pro the default PDF reader in Mac osx 10.4. Apple Preview is the currently the default reader. If I want to view a PDF in Acrobat, I need to open Acrobat and then open the PDF from there. I then need to re-save the pdf in Acrobat to make it an Acrobat document. I have searched all of the preferences, but have had no luck. Thanks, for your help.

It's not an Acrobat thing but rather a system thing.
Select a few PDF's on your hard drive then in the Finder go to File>Get Info>Open with. Choose Acrobat then click the "Change All" button.

Re: Making Acrobat 7.0 Pro the default PDF reader
I have had the same problem so I tried your advice. While I can now double
click any of the few PDFs per your advice below and Acrobat will open, as
soon as I double click on a different PDF file (one just received in email
for example) Preview opens it up. Is there some way to train the finder to
ALWAYS open PDF files with Acrobat?

I just posted an item saying that your instructions were not working. I made
a mistake. They ARE working. Sorry for the confusion.

get it to work on one file at a time but the Change All button remains
grayed out so I can not make the global change to allow all PDFs to be
opened by Acrobat. Any suggestions on activating the Change All button?
