    Why would you not want the reader to read "bullet" every time it encounters a bullet?

    How else will readers know it is a bulleted list?

    IMHO bullets should tag like this:

    <L>
    *
    <LI_Label>
    o
    <LI_Title>
    Bullet Text here.

    I have the same problem getting bullets to tag properly from Indesign and have to manually tag them. I've been meaning to experiment but have not found the time to get back to this.

    Are you using the "bullet" style feature of Indesign?

    What happens if one keys the bullets and a tab?

    Will Acrobat then recognize them as a bulleted list?

    Is there something one should do in the Structure window of Indesign to map the Bullet style to a list element?

    You can select the bulleted text and in the paragraphs palette choose "Convert Bullets and Numbering to Text." That will allow you to pass the accessibility check, but the bullet is no longer editable in InDesign. The bullet becoms just another character.
