Making Fonts?
We recently bought Fontographer 4 to create fonts for displays we are making in 3D. When we purchased it and installed it.. it gave us errors.. and long story short, we had to cut down our paging files.
While we were talking to Macromedia, they said they don't sell Fontographer much anymore because everyone creates there fonts in Freehand.... my question is:
how in the world do you create font files from freehand? We have FH10 and FH MX....
Thanks

Ouch. Fontographer is an ancient, ancient program. I'd look into getting
something newer like FontLab.

Freehand users. *sigh*
Anyways, you can draw your typeface in Freehand, but you need a font editor
to actually create the font files. FontLab is the current favorite among
many type designers.

Re: Making Fonts?
I had used Fontographer a LONG time ago and liked it.. (probably version 4 at that time too) and if I would have known the problems we were going to have with it, I would have put in for FontLab.. but the price set the buy...... thanks though!

When did you buy Fontographer? As Bobby mentions, FOG is almost 9 years old.
That's really ancient software. I don't think any company would be too keen
on using antiquated software for their business. Maybe you can take that
angle in pitching FontLab to your boss.

I find that totally unethical that they sell decade-old software for $349.> $349....
But, hey...it's a free market.

Making Type3 font is very easy, just take the text tool and type the font as
PostScript code. Then export as text.

Now getting an update or support from Macromedia is easy as well. Life is
easy from now on.
