Making simple text edits: Standard or Professional?
I have a simple sales flyer -- created with Quark and saved as a PDF -- by a different office. All I have in my office is the PDF.
At the bottom of the flyer is a store location -- I need to be able to change that text to other locations. It's a simple text edit.
Can I used Acrobat Standard for this? or do I need Professional?
Thanks!

Re: Making simple text edits: Standard or Professional?
You need to use the Touchup Text tool which I think is only available with Professional. You also need the font installed on your computer for the text you're trying to edit, or you'll need to substitute one which you have.

Re: Making simple text edits: Standard or Professional?
You can use Acrobat Standard to do this. Use the touch-up text tool (Tools_Advanced Editing_TouchUp Text Tool)

Wouldn't it be nice to have 'Standard' free if you have 'Professional'
..... for forum contributors in any case ;-)

I've got one vote for each -- so the question still stands -- can anyone give me a difinitive answer?
Thanks everyone!

Re: Making simple text edits: Standard or Professional?
The verdict is ... yes - the touch-up text tool is available in
'Standard' ..... I know because I have an Adobe training resource for
the 'Standard' version hanging around and it is covered ...

Re: Making simple text edits: Standard or Professional?
Though I should warn you that
(a) to edit text in a PDF the font must be installed locally and;
(b) sometimes even that isn't enough and you can't.
PDFs are not made for text editing and what you are doing is arguably
setting up for a mistake; don't create a workflow where you need to be
able to edit a PDF.
If you want to do this with some reliability a form field is a much
better solution; that would require Professional.

Re: Making simple text edits: Standard or Professional?
So, can I not use my Acrobat 6 Standard to edit existing text fields on a form that was created in Acrobat 5?

You can fill in and save forms, but Acrobat Standard does not
including a form designer, so you cannot change any of the design of
an existing form.
