Malformed URL trying to place multimedia content
I create a blank ID document, and then try to place an swf file and get the error message "Download failed due to malformed URL".
The same thing has happened on both my Mac and Windows machines that have Quicktime 7.1.3.
This does not happen on the machine that has Quicktime 7.0.4.
I believe this is a problem with QT 7.1.3. And will be doing a bit of investigation to figure out if it is possible to go backward to a previous version of QT.
Meanwhile could anyone test to see if they get the same error with QT 7.1.3?

Re: Malformed URL trying to place multimedia content
Thanks Peter!!!
In the time it took you to post your message I was able to uninstall QT 7.1.3 from my Windows machine and download QT 7.0.4.
I no longer get the error message.
Of course, this means I can't buy anything from iTunes since iTunes requires the latest version of QT to purchase things.
OK, so what do I want to do more, run and demonstration the multimedia aspects of InDesign and the rest of the creative suite or buy crap from Apple?
I'll vote for my job.

Re: Malformed URL trying to place multimedia content
Damn!
It's not going to be easy to uninstall QT on my Mac.
Found a web page that has instructions, but they are really complicated.

I suspect that might be what's causing your problems.
At the top of my QT Playback Compatibility chart you can find a link how
to enable Flash playback.
That *might* fix it.

Re: Malformed URL trying to place multimedia content
It's been two hours and I still haven't been able to install the lower version of QT.
So now I have no multimedia abilities on my Mac.

Re: Malformed URL trying to place multimedia content
I've given up. I am reinstalling OSX in order to clean up this mess.
I can't believe Windows was the better choice to fix an Apple product.
As far as I am concerned, I wish that Adobe would ditch its reliance on QT for the multimedia aspects of the Creative Suite.
