manual dialing - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

hi lately when i try use the internet, window pops up and ask me to lift the handset and dial the phone number of the interent maually. i can not connect till i dial the connection by hand. it did not used to be like that. how can i return the connection to be automatic dialing. i am using winxp home edition thanks...

    Because we tend to be more clueful?

    He needs to poke around the "Network" control panel, and play with the
    Dial-Up settings. It sounds like somebody did something odd to his
    Dial-Up settings....
