I use Avenza Mapping software to make maps in 9.02. When I want to make a mask it does not work in 9.02. I save as 8.0 and open in IL 8.0 and proceed. There it works great. Why can I not do the mask in 9.02. If I try to make in 9.02 it delets a lot of data! Why?

Making a path a mast does not delete anything. Some items may disappear, as they are masked by the frontmost object.

Try this:
1. Select All, then press Control+Alt+7 and Control+Alt+G (twice each). This will ungroup everything and remove any existing masks.
2. Select the object you want to use for a mask.
3. Cut.
4. Select the object(s) you want masked.
5. Paste in Front.
6. With the Move tool (V), click on the mask-group and press Control+7.
