Question Massive Contents Flash Presentation CD ! PLEASE HELP

I have been requested to create a CD presentation for a construction company who has more than 600 products they need the CD presentation to be Fast on the run, Search ability, and they want to modify their contents from time to time. so

do you have a better software than flash that runs over PC and mac for this ?
shall i do txt files to be read from the cd itself ? so the flash exe file would look them up and read ?

HOW can i prevent the CD from taking too much time to load contents when the user interacts ?

if only you can help with the searching option of how to use the search in flash, make people find what they want if your flash file has large amounts of data !!
