While ID is running open you book menu:
File > Open (or Open Recent) > Choose the file with INDB extension

    1. Click on chapter one (for example) in the Book Window that you have just opened.
    2. Click on the Style Source box of chapter two. These boxes are alos in the Book Window and one precedes each Chapter Title. But only one of them can be clicked on at a time.
    3. Click the Synchronize button at the bottom-left of the Book Window and you will have now imported all of Chapter Two styles to be added to Chapter One styles.

I am sorry for not being able to give a better discription, but I am still learning the names for everything in this program as I have only been using it for a couple of months.

    Good luck,

Thanks for the help ... unfortunately this does not work for me.

    Are you using CS2?

I can only afford CS1 (having already shelled out for ID 1.0 and then ID 1.5). CS1 seems to allow the synchronisation of styles, but not the pages themselves.

Is there a way for the master pages (margins, columns, guides, graphics etc.) to be synchronised?

You can COPY master pages from one doent to another. You cannot import, export or synchronize master pages in a book or otherwise.

Open the source doent (which has the masters you want) and the destination doent. On the Pages palette of the source doent and select the masters to be copied. Drag them over the doent window of the destination doent. The masters will be copied but will not be applied to any page.

Likewise, if you copy pages from one doent to another, the master applied to that page is also copied (beginning in IDCS2, I believe).
