Master pages in CS
I have set up a master page in CS, this contains various elements, graphics, text etc. I then make another master page based on the original, but on this new master page I need to add, move and delete elements from the original. I can add and delete some of the elements but when I come to move them it also affects the original. I have just tried doing exactly the same thing in ID2, same page size, margins and the same elements etc, what should happen does happen, ie. the original master page stays completely unchanged, which is what I would expect, so why does the master page in IDCS alter?

Why would it not effect the original?

Re: Master pages in CS
Alan,
It works fine here but you need to detach the objects from the "original" master by holding Ctrl+Shift when selecting the objects in the "new" master.

Re: Master pages in CS
Gabriel, my understanding is, if the original master page is amended then any pages which are based on that original will be affected also, but amending the master page which is based on the original will not affect the original.
Maybe I have got this wrong, but in the past, using PageMaker and ID2 this assumption has always worked fine for me.
Ronald, I did use Ctrl+Shift to detach the elements, it appears that this problem, for me at least, is intermittent, sometimes it works as I believe it should and other times the oringinal page gets amended also.
Many thanks
