Default Master Pages won't apply to certain document pages

Hello. I'm working on a book and using a couple of simple master pages. On certain live pages the master pages objects don't show up, but they do on others. I've searched the forum but can't find anything. Any suggestions out there?

This might sound basic, but are the master pages assigned to those pages? (Ex. A ). If they are just white in the pages pallete without a master page symbol they are not linked to a master.

Starting with basics is always good. :-)
They do have the letter A or B assigned to them.

Have you tried reapplying the master page? If you have pulled the objects off of the master and deleted them, then they will not be there until you reapply the master.

You might also have something on top of them--though that would only happen if you are using layers, since master objects are always on top of page objects on the same layer.

I've tried reapplying several times, and there is nothing on top of them. I've even tried toggling "hiding frame edges" and "showing frame edges" but there are not any objects there.

Oh? In my one-layer documents, the ojects on the master pages are below the objects on the document pages by default. Are you talking about master objects being on top after you release them from the master (like when you use shift-command)?

This just came up in another topic. Does your drop-down menu in the pages palette for the pages in question have "Hide Master Items" or "Show Master Items"? It should have the former.

Laura, if the affected document is a multi-layer document then one has to be aware that the layers structure is present on the master pages too. So in case of a multi-layer document, you should check on which layer those master pages objects that don't show are residing. You would check this by going to your master page and selecting the objects in question. If they are not on the top layer, then on your life pages they might be covered by the contents of any other layer on top of them.
