Default Maximum connections to Win 2000 shared folder

I have a shared folder set up on an instructor PC in a
(all PCs are Win 2000) classroom. It looks like Windows
will only allow me to make up to 10 connections with
other PCs (if I create an shortcut to the shared folder
on the eleventh PC I get a message that I have reached
the maximum allowable connections). When I look at the
shared properties of the folder in question I have it set
to "maximum allowed". If I try to manually type in a
number, it will not let me go beyond 10. Is there a way
    around this?

No, you will need a server OS to go beyond the 10 connection limit.
