Maya OS X Maya 3D import problems
Hi,
I am keen to start using Director MX and its 3D shockwave environment. I have
created the 3D content using Maya 5 on Mac OS X. The problem I am having is
exporting my 3D models from Maya into Director. I understand that they need to
be .w3d format (will any other do?) but I can't export as .w3d on a mac, that
is only possible on the windows verion of Maya whic has a shockwave 3D exporter.
Does anyone know of any availible conversion tools for VRML or OBJ format
(which I can export as) to W3D on Mac OS X? or have any other suggestions on
how to do this that don't envolve using a PC or virtual PC?
thank you,
Russ

Re: Maya OS X Maya 3D import problems
Okino Polytrans for Maya is Shockwave 3D compliant:

I went there, and continued to get the runaround all over the different
sections, the Director support page, the director Exchange site...I can't find
an actual download for this converter, and I'm very interested in it. In my
class, we use Maya 5 on the OSX platform, so we do not yet have shockwave
export, and this converter looks like it would work.

My mistake, I never realized that it's a Windows only thing. Seems like
you've reached a dead end here...

Re: Maya OS X Maya 3D import problems
Thank you all for replying to my post
unfortunatly no-one has suggested anything that will work for mac os x. The
obj convertor is for Windows only and so is the Polytrans plugin by Okino.
Please help!
