    Hello,

    if there is an incompatibility this would be a major issue for me too.

    But till now I can't reproduce it.

    My results are:

    SELECT NEWID() in QA returns GUID without {}
    since a GUID is a binary structure the displayed value depends an the client
    formatting in that case QA.

    SELECT CONVERT(varchar(38),NEWID() in QA returns GUID without {}
    This is the same as on SQL Server 7.0.
    Since CONVERT is executed at the SQLServer there can be no change through a
    MDAC update.

    I used my small ADO Test programm (written in VB without dot and net) and
    SELECT NEWID() returned the GUID as String with {}

    Where did you encounter the change?

    Greetings.

    Rainer,
    Actually I spent 5 hours on the phone with 4 differents engineers
    from Microsoft yesterday and we finally were able to resolve the problem on
    3 of my four servers. But, I still have a problem with one of them. The
    thing is, it is a different solution for each computer.

    Try and read this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330019

    You have 2 options:

    Rollback to version 2.6 rtm ("C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
    Shared\dasetup\dasetup.exe" /u)
    or
    Call them to get the new version of SQLXMLX.dll that is only available with
    versions newer than Windows 2000 (Windows Server 2003).

    If that doesn't work send me another message and I will give you another
    procedure to try.
