Re: Measure Ink Coverage
Dean,
You can use the info palette in Photoshop for that - just hover over the
area
In Illustrator the colour d/box will show you the ink-mix for any selected
object (of solid colour)

Re: Measure Ink Coverage
Thanks, Len
Let me re-ask this question a different way. If I have a white box and in the box wrote 1 2 3, in black, what would be the percent of black to the white background ? I trying to find the amount of coverage in a specific area.

Re: Measure Ink Coverage
Dean,
Histogram in Photoshop will give you a pixel count of your selected area. Selected pixels divided by total pixels will give you coverage ratio.

Re: Measure Ink Coverage
Hi
For my own understanding - could someone explain why you would want to know what the ink coverage is (not being condescending!)- does it have some impact on output or print quality?
Thanks
Latchet

Re: Measure Ink Coverage
It impacts on your bottom line Lachet. Sometimes different methods may be cheaper, as they will use less ink. I use two spots on top of CMYK on my Roland and sometimes I can mix a colour more cheaply using them than I can if it were purely CMYK.

Re: Measure Ink Coverage
Thank You, Harron
I used your suggestion and found it to be way too easy !! Also, your response is basically the reason I needed to work this out. The difference in our ink cost will be approx. $6,800.00 over the length of the order.
Thank you,
